When it arrived, I plugged it in my living room just for overnight and was surprised at the difference it made. It stayed upstairs. We don't have to turn up the TV volume since the Soleus runs very quietly. Running one on each floor may negate the need for a 2nd in the basement. I no longer use the Whirlpool because of the expense of operation and the noise that can be heard upstairs. If, during the wet spring weather I need another in the basement, the Soleus pays for itself over operating the less efficient other brands so I will buy another.
