The Anatomy of a Danby Dehumidifier

Danby, a family owned manufacturer of small electrical appliances, was founded in 1947. In 1992, the company expanded and opened its U.S. home office in Findlay, OH. The company's aim is to produce innovative, quality products at competitive prices.

To help reduce the humidity levels in your home, you may need to purchase a Danby dehumidifier. A Danby dehumidifier, like all Danby products, meets and exceeds all environmental safety standards and offers UL, CSA, NRTL and ETL recognized standards approvals. Their line of dehumidifiers features attractive units that all come in a light grey hue. This neutral tone is perfect for blending into many different households and decor types. Here are the other features you may find on your Danby dehumidifier:

Energy Star Certified

Every Danby dehumidifier is Energy Star certified. Energy Star is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental danbymed Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Energy. This program helps save money and protect the environment through energy efficient products and practices. Products that have earned the Energy Star meet strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the EPA and U.S. Department of Energy.

Capacity

Depending on the size of the area that needs moisture removal and how much moisture the area contains, a certain dehumidification capacity will be needed. A Danby dehumidifier may feature a capacity as low as 24 pints of moisture per day or as high as 70 pints of moisture per day. The effective areas range from 1500 to 3800 square feet.

The controls on every Danby dehumidifier are electronic instead of mechanical, which makes them very user-friendly. Some of the models come with digital key pads and LED displays as well. A few of them also come complete with remote controls so the dehumidifier can be managed from across the room.

Quiet Operation

When the area being dehumidified is noise sensitive, it's important that your dehumidifier work quietly. 3 Danby dehumidifiers feature quiet operation, making them perfect for bedrooms or other noise-sensitive environments.

All of the Danby dehumidifier units have an auto-de-icer function that prevents ice build-up on the coils. Most of them also have a low temperature feature that allows the system to continue operating until the ambient temperature of the area reaches 5 degrees Celsius. This is great for areas that tend to have lower temperatures, like basements.

Direct Drain Operation

A direct drain features is located at the rear of the cabinet on all Danby dehumidifiers. No drain hose is included and this feature is only intended for use in basements that have a floor drain.

Refrigerant

The refrigerant used in a Danby dehumidifier is either environmentally friendly R134A or another non ozone depleting refrigerant.

Adjustable or Programmable Humidity Settings

The humidity settings are adjustable or programmable on each Danby dehumidifier, to help you achieve an ideal humidity level for your environment.

Air Filter

A few of the dehumidifiers Danby carries have removable air filters. The filter is located at the front of the unit, directly above the water tank compartment. It helps reduce dust and dirt particles from the surrounding environment.

Auto Restart

If a power failure happens, some of the Danby dehumidifier units have an auto restart feature that recalls all previous settings. When the unit is turned off, the electronic circuit board automatically defaults to the last program setting that was used.
